Software classes in Sangli: how to pick one without wasting a year

Every year around June, students across Sangli start hunting for a software class. Most compare fees and syllabus PDFs. Both are the wrong things to compare, because every institute's syllabus PDF looks identical.

Here is what actually separates a class that puts you in a job from one that hands you a certificate.

1. Ask for last year's placement list, with company names

Not a percentage. A list. Names of students, companies, and the month they joined. Any institute that has genuinely placed people will have this and will be happy to show it. A percentage with no list behind it is marketing.

2. Ask who reviews your code

This is the single highest-signal question you can ask, and almost nobody asks it. Writing code is easy to fake progress in. Somebody experienced reading your code and telling you what is wrong with it is the thing that actually builds skill.

If the answer is "the sir checks the output", walk out. Output being correct tells you nothing about whether the code is employable.

3. Count the projects, then ask to see one

Ask to see a project a student finished last batch. Open the GitHub repository. Look at the commit history. Twenty commits over three months from one student is a real project. One commit called "final project" is a downloaded template.

4. Ask about the batch size for the lab, not the lecture

Lectures scale. Labs do not. A 60-person lecture is fine. A 60-person lab means you will wait forty minutes for help when you are stuck, and being stuck for forty minutes is how people quit.

5. Ask what happens if you fall behind

Everybody falls behind at some point — an exam, an illness, a family thing. Ask what the recovery path is. "Attend the next batch's session for that topic" is a real answer. Silence is also an answer.

6. Ask what they teach that was not taught two years ago

The stack moves. If the syllabus is identical to what it was in 2023, the institute is not paying attention. Agentic AI tooling, for instance, went from a curiosity to a hiring requirement in about eighteen months.

What we do about each of these

We publish our placement list with company names. Every student's code is reviewed weekly by a working developer. Lab batches are capped at 18. Missed sessions can be repeated with the next batch at no cost. And we rebuilt a third of our curriculum in the last year.
